Celebrating 100 Years
We, the faithful of St George Orthodox Church, are blessed to be in the midst of our Centennial year. In this 100th year of our parish we will be celebrating our history and looking forward to our future. We invite you to be part of this celebration that will culminate with our Mortgage Burning (Oct. 3, 2026), Centennial Gala (Oct. 10, 2026) and Consecration of the church (Oct. 11, 2026). We will post information regarding all events and related Centennial information on this page.

Timecapsule
At the 75th Anniversary of the parish in 2001, the parishioner placed a time capsule in the cornerstone of our church at 4020 N. Sherman Drive, Indianapolis with various mementos, messages and historical items. On Saturday, October 11, 2025, as the kick-off to our Centennial year, we opened the time capsule and shared the contents with the parish. Below are some of those items and photos from the event.

Icon Book
Step Into the Light
is a unique book that showcases the iconography of St. George Orthodox Church. It is scheduled to be published and available for purchase in September 2026.
The book is divided into three major sections. The first section will highlight the architecture and development of the iconography. The main content will examine the various icons and communicate the deep meaning that is represented in the images. The concluding portion of the book will be reflections that bring the experience to life among those that have encountered St. George Orthodox Church iconography and worship.
