Fr. Joseph Olas, Pastoral Assistant
The Rev. Father Joseph S. Olas (“Fr. Joseph”) was assigned as the pastoral assistant of St. George Orthodox Church in November of 2016. Fr. Joseph grew up in St George Orthodox Church of Indianapolis, where his dad, the late V. Rev. Fr. O. Joseph Olas (+1997) served as pastor from 1981 to 1995. In 1992 he was made a subdeacon at St. George. A 1994 Graduate from North Central High School, he then graduated from Indiana University after spending time at both the Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses. Before attending seminary he worked in the hospitality and entertainment industry of Indianapolis. He attended St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, graduating in 2010 with an MA in Theology. His thesis was on his Godfather, Rt. Rev. Fr. John Namie, and his influence on the spiritual life of the Antiochian Archdiocese. After seminary, he spent time in Wichita, KS where he was active in the life of St. George Cathedral. He then went to South Florida where he worked for Orthodox Christian Network. Immediately previous to his assignment to St. George in Fishers, he spent a year in Louisville, KY as the pastoral assistant of St. Michael the Archangel Orthodox Church. On June 3, 2017, he was ordained a Deacon by Bishop Basil of Wichita. On April 3, 2022, he was ordained to the holy priesthood by His Grace Bishop Anthony. Father Joseph has traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Holy Land and has spoken at many conferences and in parishes about the life of the Church in North America.
