St. George Church of Indianapolis was established in 1926 and ministers
to Orthodox Christians of a great diversity of backgrounds. We are
united in our common Faith. At St. George’s, first and foremost, we
worship together in the confidence that our Lord Jesus Christ is
invisibly present with us, as He promised. We also study the Faith
together in the children’s church school programs and in various adult
study groups. We work together on various ministries, ranging from our
charity ministry to youth ministry to building maintenance. Finally, but
also very important, we enjoy fellowship with one another.

architect's drawing, above, shows our planned new church on East
116th Street in Fishers.

Patriarch Bartholomew, the senior leader of 300 million Orthodox
Christians, feels "crucified" living in Turkey under a government he says
would like to see his Patriarchate die out. Despite some factual errors,
the report is very inspiring (includes some footage in Turkey and on Mt.
Sinai).
Patriarch Bartholomew on the Last Christians in Turkey
Maria Khoury, who will be coming to Indianapolis to
lead a retreat co-sponsored by the women of Holy Trinity and St. George,
is interviewed in Taibeh, the last Christian village in the Holy Land.
Maria Khoury on the Last Christians in the Holy Land
Both Maria and Patriarch Bartholomew emphasize their
trust in God and believe in miracles.
We had a visitor attend
January 24, and she wrote a review of our church service; she
posted it on line, entitled, “This
is Not a Church for Sissies!” She has also
now posted a podcast of
Q&A with Fr. Nabil.

Carl departed this life Thursday, March 11. Arrangements are
tentatively set for him to be waked Sunday evening, March 14, at the
Harry Moore Funeral Home, with the funeral at the church Monday
morning. Please check back for confirmation and times.
We extend our sincere sympathies to daughter Diana Najjar, grandson
David Najjar and granddaughter Marcy Koroneos of our parish and to
all their families, including sons John and Carl Snider and daughter
Janine Shurts.
No Vespers at St. George this Saturday, March 13
as we join with St. John Chrysostom Church of Fort Wayne
(what we started as a mission over 42 years ago) for the "Opening of
the Doors" and the first services in their beautiful new church
building
Lenten Service Schedule
Every Monday
On Mondays in Lent we will serve Great Compline at 7 p.m.
During this beautiful, prayerful service, we proclaim that “God is with
us!”
Every Wednesday during Lent
Join us at 6 p.m. for the Presanctified Liturgy.
Bring one Lenten item to share for a pitch-in after Liturgy, so we can
break bread together after fasting from all food, drink, smoking and idle
talk at least from noontime on, in preparation for Holy Communion.
You are also invited to stay after the meal for a study of our Faith.
Every Friday in Lent
A Lenten supper will be served at 6 p.m., followed by
the service of Little Compline with the Akathist Hymn to the Theotokos
at 7 p.m. (On March 19, however, we will concelebrate this service at
Holy Trinity Church, in conjunction with a retreat hosted jointly by our
ladies’ groups.
Every Sunday Evening
Vespers will be held at 5 p.m. at a different church each week
(see the calendar for location).
9 a.m., March 20, featuring Dr. Maria Khoury
