The Very Rev. Fr. Nabil Hanna
Fr. Nabil was born in Alexandria, Egypt, March 26, 1960. He emigrated to the United States with his parents and two sisters in 1968. He grew up in Portland, Oregon, and graduated from Lewis and Clark College in Portland with a degree in chemistry in 1981. He worked as an engineer for the Intel Corporation for the next five years. In 1986, Fr. Nabil began studies at St. Vladimir’s Seminary in Crestwood, New York, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Master of Divinity degree and an emphasis in Biblical languages. He was ordained as a presbyter by Archbishop Philip on July 30, 1989. Prior to coming to St. George, he served as pastor at St. George Cathedral in Toledo, Ohio; St. John of Damascus Church in Dedham, Mass.; and assistant pastor at St. Luke’s Church in Garden Grove, California. Besides English, Fr. Nabil speaks Arabic and French and is proficient in ancient Greek and Hebrew.
